The Mackay Whitsunday Regional Economic Development Corporation (REDC) commissioned the AEC Group Limited (AECgroup) to conduct an economic review of the Mackay-Whitsunday-Isaac Region to develop an “Economic Baseline”, which builds on existing information to identify strategic economic development opportunities across the region in order to help manage and facilitate growth and direct development in an efficient and sustainable manner into the future.

The report is intended to inform the Regional Economic Development Strategy being developed by REDC as part of a process of targeting industries and businesses for attraction and/ or development efforts by stakeholders within the Mackay-Whitsunday-Isaac Region. The report identifies and discusses the key advantages and issues facing the region in the context of its economic structure, available infrastructure, existing and potential industry activity and overarching influencing factors.
