REDC is the peak economic development organisation for the Mackay Whitsunday Region. The region encompasses the Mackay Statistical Division, which includes the three local government areas of Mackay, Whitsunday, and Isaac. Activities undertaken by REDC cover not only economic initiatives, but also social and environmental challenges.
economic development ... refers to the deliberate effort to improve the economy and quality of life of a specified geographic area by the process of promoting, initiating, supporting, and/or facilitating investment, population growth, job creation and retention and the improvement of social infrastructure.
